January 6, 2009: Equipment Dilemma

Today we trained GS at Norquay in overcast but relatively “warm” weather. I have been testing out different binding setups and unfortunately had the most problems with the setup I tested today. My new boot liners and race tongues have made my entire setup too stiff and difficult to make consistently good turns. After crashing hard in the course, I took the rest of the day to freeride and try to feel out my setup. Conclusion: I’ll be getting new bindings and hopefully a new board in a few weeks. Very frustrating day, but at least I know what setup works and what setup doesn’t work.

Heading out to Steamboat Springs, CO tomorrow to get ready for the Nor-Am on Friday and Saturday!
