March 15, 2009: A Little Antsy

Calgary, Canada – I’m now up in Calgary for a 4-day training block which starts tomorrow. I’m definitely excited about getting back into gates but more antsy than before. But a different type of nervousness. I’m surprisingly not worried about my shoulder; I am comfortable with my brace and confident with my freeriding. I’m worried about the amount of time I’ve been out of gates, that everyone who has been continuously training is so far ahead of me now and all the gains that I made earlier in the season are gone.

I’m hoping that the break will be beneficial to my riding like it was in the past. After not making the ’06 Winter Olympics I took two months off of training and racing, actually off of snow for that matter (I spent the time outside of San Francisco) and the next two races were the best results I’ve had to date. So maybe it’ll be a good thing (I hope, I hope!).

Only time will tell!
