September 2, 2009: Drained

Methven, New Zealand – It’s almost ten in the morning and still the mountains are closed. We got up again at 5:30am only to be told that we were on hold until 9am, and then later told that we would go up at 11am. So now we’re just waiting.

I’m coming close to my wits’ end with the waiting. It’s mentally and emotionally draining and while I was trying to remain positive when this happened most of last week, I’m struggling to keep my motivation up. I just want to snowboard! Especially since my last run ended badly with some back, neck and head pain, I want to get a run in to erase that last run so I don’t carry that memory with me. And I feel so out of it due to the waking and sleeping and waking schedule when we get put on hold. It feels like I have no concept of what time of day it is anymore!

But we’ll see, maybe the mountain will open this afternoon.
